When tragedy strikes we are quickly overwhelmed by our emotions, and it is hard to maintain our control over them. The first thing that many of us do is to look for the “soothing effect of a drink or a hit from some drug”. Trying to put tragedy to sleep with drugs and alcohol will not heal you, it is like anesthesia and when you come to your normal senses again the pain will be stronger. We have all been through tragedy through our lifetimes and there are innumerable ways to cope without using drugs nor alcohol.
