melancholic

When you feel melancholic, it´s as if your energy is being drained; you hurt. It´s okay not to feel okay. That´s perfectly acceptable and normal and part of recovery. Alcohol and drug use put a lot of chemicals into your bloodstream. You put your problems to sleep in a manner of speaking. You see, typically, people don´t drink and compulsively use drugs only because they like the high and suppress life issues. When the drugs and alcohol aren´t present in your system, those problems demand your mental attention, and of course, having to feel them will make you feel melancholic.
