co-occurring

Substance Use and Mental Health Disorders tend to co-exist. When this co-occurs, a person has a co-occurring disorder, also known as dual diagnosis, dual/concurrent disease, or co-morbidity.

Teenagers are at greater risk for substance use and mental health problems when there is notorious family conflict low-income family management. Physical /sexual abuse, or if one or both parents have a substance abuse problem or mental health disorder, increases the risk.

Fortunately, Refresh Treatment programs include community support to people experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

Refresh integrates substance abuse services with mental health services. Our team works intensely with individuals to build skills and develop resources to reduce the harm drugs cause.

The role of the Refresh team is to integrate mental health and substance use services. We provide DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), individual case management, follow-up, and assessment.
